Hope everyone got the Box Tops for Education Letter and Collection Sheet we sent home with your children. We are excited to see just how much “Free” money we can collect for our school just by clipping Box Tops. We get 10Cents per Box Top. It might not sound like a lot, but it adds up quickly. Last year we raised $1300, and in years past almost as much as $4000!
Remember this month’s Collection Sheet can be turned in at any time, but is due by September 28th. If you don’t have a collection Sheet, thats ok, just put them in a ziploc bag with hyour child’s name and teacher on it.

Just wanted to remind everyone that if you wish the PTA to shop for your child’s school supplies for next year all order forms are due by Thursday June 7th ( the last day of school). The PTA will have your student’s school supplies waiting on their desk the first day of school. Send in the order form with payment (cash or check) of $35 into the school.
At the PTA meeting on Thursday, May 24th we voted to dissolve the current PTA and form a new PTO. The overall functioning of the PTO will remain the same as it has in the past. We are forming a committee to write the bylaws for the new PTO. This meeting will be held on June 14th at 5pm. The location of the meeting will be dependent on the number of responses. If you are interested in assisting with this task please sign up by June 7th.
THANK YOU!!! to all our students and families for supporting our school and community through our monthly community service projects!! With your help, this year we helped the following organizations in our community:
* We collected 148 lbs. of recycled pop tabs which allowed us to make a $66 donation to the Ronald McDonald House of Pittsburgh.
* $520 was collected from families, staff, and the PTA for Save The Children to help with hurricane disaster relief in September.
* 143lbs of food was collected for our school’s backpack program in October.
* We honored our Veterans on November 9th at our Veteran’s Day Assembly.
* During November and December we worked with The Pollick Agency and collected over 100 toys for Toys for Tots.
* In January we worked with Girl Scout Troop 28823 and donated several vehicles full of clothing to The Center in Midland.
* Because you ordered Autism Awareness shirts in February, we were able to make a $415 donation to Autism Connection of PA.
* After our Spare Change Drive in February, and Flower Sale in April, we made a donation of $500 to the Beaver Library to help with building improvements.
* In March we collected too many books to count for our classrooms and the Beaver Library for their annual book sale.
THANK YOU so much to all the generous families at College Square. With your help we were able to make a difference in our community!
Fun Day is just around the corner on Tuesday, June 5th!
This year we are doing things a bit differently. Instead of bounce houses we will have carnival games, crafts and face painting and a dunk tank outside (weather permitting). We are in need of volunteers to man each station. If you are available to help out please sign up for the available times. The link for the sign-up can be found here. All volunteers must have their clearances and be a member of the PTA.

Just wanted to announce that the Scholastic BOGO Book Fair originally scheduled 5/19/18 during the Art Show and Story Walk has been canceled.
May Wednesday 16th & Thursday 17th & Saturday 19th (during The Story Walk)
We are excited to bring the Paws for Books BOGO spring book fair to College Square Elementary! Please volunteer your time to make this a great event for our students! Remember volunteers you must have your clearances on file with the school to sign up to help. Parents you are also welcome to come out and help your own child shop. If just helping your own child you don’t need to sign up or have your clearances. The links for volunteering and Class Room Schedules are posted below.
EWallet is here!! EWallet is an online wallet where parents can upload money for their kids’ books they want to purchase. This helps because the kids don’t have to worry about bringing, carrying, or losing there book money.

The PTA is very thankful for the teachers and staff at College Square!! Help us show our appreciation for them by providing a dish for their lunch on May 8th. We are asking for soups, salads, breads, and desserts. You can sign up to help provide for the luncheon by clicking HERE.
Your dish must arrive in the office by 10am on Wednesday, May 8th. If you would like your dish returned to you, please put your name on it and your dish will be available for pick up in the office after 2:30pm.
Since it is Teacher Appreciation Week, please consider taking some time to download and complete the Teacher Appreciation Form below, for your kid’s teacher. The PTA needs you help to show our teachers just how much we appreciate them!!

The CLO Gallery of Heroes performance has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 3rd at 6 pm. This event will be held at Dutch Ridge Elementary and is a free event to all students and families. This event is sponsored by the Dutch Ridge and College Square PTAs and Brighton Music Center. Don’t miss an amazing performance!
Moving forward as a PTA or a PTO. A flyer went home today to help explain what a PTO does and does not. It also gave the PTA’s reasons for considering disbanding as a PTA and creating a PTO. We want to better serve our school and community.

The Pittsburgh CLO Gallery of Heroes will be presenting Arriba! Arriba! The Roberto Clemente Story. It will take place this Wednesday, March 21st at 6:30pm at the High School auditorium. The show will last about an hour. This is a FREE event for all students and parents from College Square and Dutch Ridge. The event is sponsored by College Square PTA, Dutch Ridge PTA, and The Brighton Music Center.
